AN ACT RELATING TO A BAN ON MANDATORY OVERTIME
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State
of Vermont:
Sec. 1.
18 V.S.A. § 1905(19) is added to read:
(19) No hospital shall require any employee to accept work
in excess of eight hours per day or in excess of 40 hours per
week or in excess of scheduled hours; the acceptance of such
work in excess of 40 hours per week or eight hours per day
or in excess of scheduled hours shall be strictly voluntary,
and the refusal of any employee to accept such overtime work
shall not be grounds for discrimination, dismissal, discharge,
or any other penalty upon the employee.
